2011 Annual Banquet Review
A review of the 2011 Annual Banquet below:
A sellout crowd packed the Daytona Beach Resort and Conference Center for the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting, Installation of Officers, and Awards Banquet on January 22nd.
Members were treated to gorgeous trays of exotic fruit and vegetables and delectable cheeses during the cocktail. This enchanting hour gave members an opportunity to network and visit with friends. Chamber Executive Director Tony Capozzi thanked the many sponsors who made the event possible. Florida Power & Light and Bright House Networks hosted the superb event. Farzad Nourian, of Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial, delivered the invocation. The meeting was called to order by Chamber President Kent Jones, who welcomed the many dignitaries in attendance.
The New Member of the Year Award goes to a business member who has made an exceptional contribution to the Chamber and its members. We awarded the distinction to Sean Donovan, SeanDon.com, Dina Maru, formerly of Holland Financial, and Perry-Nicholas Isch, Wishworks Media for consistent involvement.
The Leadership Award was given to Angela Payne-Jelenic from Hampton Inn Ormond/Daytona Beach. Angie is a graduate of Leadership Class VI, and has an impressive list of service accomplishments, including serving on several Ormond Beach Committees, including Vice President of Membership Services. This honoree exemplifies the kind of leadership we aspire to develop through our Leadership Program.
Lisa Mardak, Advantage Pests, VP of Community Events, was recognized for her selfless dedication to the Chamber. Her time and efforts are unparalleled.
Joan Skirde, North Florida Financial was presented the Ambassador of the Year Award. The Ambassadors are the heart and soul, and the welcoming face of our Chamber. Joan personifies the qualities we seek in an Ambassador. She is dependable, and professional and a friend to all. This is one individual who greets everyone with a friendly smile. This Ambassador rarely missed a ribbon cutting, Sparkler, new member reception, or Chamber-sponsored event. Additionally, Joan also finds time to serve on various committees.
Overall Continuous Support was presented to the Mark Olson, Ormond in the Pines, Cathy Coates, Florida Hospital HospiceCare, Pat Masotti-Abernathy, Masotti's Media Services South Inc., and Linda Camp, Fortune Real Estate. These members consistently step up to the plate when the Chamber needs assistance with its events, graciously giving time, service or product, without reservation .This year’s winners have been staples in our Chamber and a tremendous asset to the Chamber.
Overall Conributions through Sponsorships and Participation Awards were presented to SR Perrott, ROOT Organization, Allstate - O'Quinn Insurance Agency, Inc., Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, and Bright House Networks. This award is presented to a company who consistently support the Chamber, without reservation, through participation and sponsorships to help the Chamber achieve its goals. Each of these companies are always willing to assist us in furthering our mission. Their generosity and willingness to serve the Chamber throughout this past year has never wavered. Rounding out the evening was Coach Steven G. Ridder, Embry-Riddle University Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach, shared the secrets of his success.
