“THE LADIES CHARITY FASHION SHOW”
Local Businesses Offer “Capsule Wardrobe” Show to Benefit Avenues 12
ORMOND BEACH, FL: Budget-conscious fashionistas and shoppers looking for hot tips are invited to “The Ladies Charity Fashion Show,” to be held on October 8th from 2-4 p.m. at La’s Bistro, 409 South Nova Road in Ormond Beach. Participants will learn how to create a “capsule” wardrobe using 10 affordable and versatile items. All proceeds will benefit Avenues 12 Women’s Recovery Houses.
The event will feature a table-side fashion show, silent auction, a raffle, and light refreshments. Attendees will watch as models demonstrate how it is possible -- with just ten budget items of clothing – for a person to mix-and-match those items to create a seasonal wardrobe. The fashions will be provided by Miss Priss, the Ormond Beach consignment shop.
Tickets for the event are $25.00. The ticket includes appetizers, choice of limited beverage, dessert, and a raffle ticket. Local businesses have donated exciting items to be raffled; more items to bid on will be available at the silent auction. Seating is limited, and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will be available by e-mailing event organizer Mary Woodford of Mary Kay Cosmetics at email@example.com or by calling 386.453.3577. Tickets will also be available for purchase at Miss Priss at 150 W. Granada.
“Avenues 12 Recovery House http://avenues12recoveryhouse.com is a recovery program for women who are moving beyond substance abuse issues. Its mission statement is: Our purpose is to provide structured and stable environments for women recovering from the disease of addiction.
We set the highest standards of care to enable personal growth, a foundation of development for long term sobriety, and improving the quality of life while becoming a productive member of society.”
The Ladies Charity Fashion Show is being sponsored by a group of local Ormond Beach businesses. It was the brainchild of Mary Woodford of Mary Kay Cosmetics. Among its other sponsors are Kathy Smith from Cruise Planners, Linda Jakel of Premiere Jewelry, Elaine Hoehn of Miss Priss, Carlos of La’s Bistro, and Lorraine Berry and Rob Stiene of amberSands Creative.
“One of the joys of my work with Mary Kay is that we’re encouraged to extend our resources to our neighbors,” says Mary Woodford. “It just seemed a natural fit that women who were re-building their lives would want to feel good about themselves and about the way that they looked, and that’s what I try to do every day when I work with my clients. When Kathy and I talked about this, we decided that Avenues 12 would be a great place to put our energies.”
“Empowering women while giving back to the community is the best gift we can give,” Smith says.
